Help
Quick answers to the questions we get most often.
Is 99utilities free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no account and no sign-up required.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Almost all tools process your files directly in your browser, on your own device. Your files never leave your device.
Why does a video tool download something the first time?
Video tools use a processing engine (ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly) that runs inside your browser. The first time you open one, your browser downloads it once and reuses it afterwards.
Which files can I use?
The common formats you'd expect — MP4, WebM and MOV for video; MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG for audio; PNG, JPG and WebP for images; and standard PDFs. Each tool lists what it accepts.
Why do some audio tools save as WAV?
Because the editing happens entirely in your browser. If you need MP3, run the result through the Audio Converter.
A tool isn't working — what can I do?
Make sure you're using an up-to-date browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Very large files can take longer since all the work happens on your device.
